Turn & Releases are designed for use on bathroom doors, providing internal privacy with an external coin release for emergency access if required. Available in a wide choice of designs and finishes, they can be perfectly matched to your door handles for a coordinated look.

Bathroom Turn & Release Locks

Turn & releases provide a simple and practical way to add privacy to bathroom, WC and other internal doors, combining an internal thumbturn with an external emergency release. Our extensive range of bathroom turn & releases includes traditional and contemporary designs from leading architectural ironmongery brands including Frelan Hardware, Atlantic UK, Heritage Brass and From The Anvil. Choose from a wide selection of finishes including Satin Brass, Antique Brass, Polished Chrome, Satin Nickel, Satin Chrome and Polished Nickel, making it easy to coordinate your turn & release with your chosen door handles and other ironmongery.

How Does a Turn & Release Work?

A door turn & release can be used with either a mortice bathroom lock or a mortice deadbolt to provide privacy on bathroom, WC and other internal doors. When paired with a bathroom lock, the door handle operates the latch while the turn & release operates the separate locking bolt. Alternatively, a mortice deadbolt can be fitted alongside a separate latch, with the turn & release operating the deadbolt independently from the door handle. On the outside of the door, the release can typically be operated with a coin or similar object, allowing the door to be unlocked from outside in an emergency. Turn & releases are particularly well suited to lever handles on rose and knob furniture, where the locking furniture is fitted separately from the handle.
